In an unfortunate incident on November 17, 2019, around 8 p.m., the vehicle carrier 'Asian Emperor' experienced a collision with the tugboat 'RAM Chango' while performing docking maneuvers at the DPN World Terminal, located in San Antonio, Chile. The impact resulted in a breach in the hull of the 'Asian Emperor', leading to water ingress in the engine room. Fortunately, the damage was assessed to be minor, and repair work commenced promptly in port to restore the vessel's operational capacity.

International Shipholding Corporation, based in Mobile, Alabama, has made a significant move by announcing the sale of two of its international flag Pure Car Truck Carriers to Norwegian Car Carriers ASA. As per the agreement revealed today, this transaction is projected to be finalized by the close of the first quarter and is expected to yield approximately $73.9 million in proceeds. The vessels involved in this deal, the Asian King and the Asian Emperor, were constructed at Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, with their launch years being 1998 and 1999, respectively. These carriers are specifically designed for transporting 'high and heavy' cargo, featuring four hoistable car decks and a substantial stern ramp that can support up to 150 metric tons.
