A patrol boat from the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) successfully located the drifting car carrier 'Asian Empire' last night at 21:00 local time. Notably, the vessel showed no signs of fire, smoke, or pollution, with a hull temperature of a stable 24-25 degrees Celsius, as confirmed by JCG's remote heat measuring devices. To assist in the operation, two salvage tugs, one from Taiwan and another from Japan, have been dispatched by the appointed salvage company, with arrival expected on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The 'Asian Empire,' which suffered a fire incident on April 19, 2014, around 480 nautical miles south of Tokyo while en route to China, has a crew of 25 personnel who were safely evacuated using life boats. Fortunately, they are now all safe aboard the 'Asian Adonis,' a nearby vessel that came to their aid. The 'Asian Adonis' is scheduled to make a port stop in Saipan before facilitating the return of the Filipino and South Korean crew members to their homeland within the next few days.
