Bureau Veritas, a leading classification society, has officially classified the newly delivered asphalt carrier, Asphalt Splendor, boasting a deadweight tonnage of 37,000 dwt. This state-of-the-art vessel, constructed at Avic Dingheng in China, marks a significant addition to the U.S.-based Sargeant Marine's fleet. The Asphalt Splendor is part of a twin-series design developed through a collaborative effort between Chinese design institute SDARI and Sargeant Marine. This innovative ship can transport hot asphalt in its liquid form at temperatures reaching up to 170 degrees Celsius, thanks to its sixteen independent tanks, which provide an impressive total capacity of 35,666 cubic meters.
