In a strategic move to adapt to challenging market conditions, Maersk Supply Services has confirmed the layup of two Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessels, including the Maersk Assister. Carsten Plougmann Andersen, CEO of Maersk Supply Services, refrained from providing specifics regarding this decision. The company highlights that numerous vessels are being withdrawn from the North Sea daily, attributing this trend to an oversupply in the market which has led day rates to remain at unsustainable levels. The withdrawal of these two AHTSs is set for the end of this month, with this being the fourth vessel Maersk Supply Services has laid up in response to the market's challenges. The vessels in question are the Maersk Advancer, launched in 2004, and the 2008-built Maersk Assist.
