Coast Guard Conducts Dramatic Medevac near Dauphin Island
On November 9, 2023, the U.S. Coast Guard executed a crucial medevac operation involving a 30-year-old male passenger from the vessel 'Astraea SB.' The incident occurred approximately nine nautical miles off the coast of Dauphin Island, Alabama. The Coast Guard Sector Mobile received an urgent distress signal detailing the passenger’s severe labored breathing and elevated blood pressure. In response, they promptly dispatched a 45-foot boat from Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island to the scene. However, upon arrival, the crew was unable to transfer the patient due to safety concerns. To ensure the man received the necessary medical attention, Coast Guard watchstanders then deployed a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans. The aircrew successfully hoisted the individual aboard the helicopter and transported him to Mobile International Airport, where he was handed over to emergency medical services for urgent care. AM Nomikos Acquires United Ocean's Kamsarmax for $12.35 Million
AM Nomikos Transworld Maritime Agencies, based in Greece, has reinforced its status as a strategic buyer in the distressed bulker asset market. Demonstrating keen acumen, the company has successfully acquired the kamsarmax vessel, United Serenity, for $12.35 million. This 2009-built bulk carrier was one of many from United Ocean that entered the market following the company's bankruptcy late last year. Initially, brokers speculated that the vessel had been purchased by Ebe; however, it was AM Nomikos that clinched the deal and has since renamed the ship Astraea SB. This acquisition highlights AM Nomikos's continued presence in the evolving maritime landscape as they capitalize on emerging opportunities. http://splash247.com/nomikos-pays-12-35m-united-ocean-kamsarmax/
