Bunker Tanker 'Gazpromneft East' Runs Aground in St. Petersburg
On the evening of September 1, 2016, the bunker tanker 'Gazpromneft East' encountered trouble as it ran aground in the Petrovskiy Canal, located between buoys 9-10 and 11-23 near St. Petersburg. At the time of the incident, the vessel was carrying a substantial 1200 tons of fuel. Thankfully, with the timely intervention of two tugboats, the tanker was successfully refloated shortly after midnight on September 2. Following this operation, 'Gazpromneft East' was escorted to the Kanonerskiy Ship Repair Yard for a comprehensive underwater hull survey. Later, the vessel made its way to Lomonosov, successfully berthing at 10:45 p.m. on September 2. The next morning, on September 3 at 7:00 a.m., it arrived in Nevskaya Guba, St. Petersburg, marking the end of a tumultuous night for the crew and the ship.
