In a significant transaction in the maritime industry, Japanese shipping company Fuyo Kaiun has successfully purchased a vessel for $16.8 million. The deal also includes a back charter for one year at a daily rate of USD 11,000. This acquisition marks another strategic move by Fuyo Kaiun to expand its fleet and enhance its operational capabilities in the sector.

On February 11, 2013, the US Coast Guard conducted a vital medevac operation amid dense fog and rough waters off New York Harbor’s Lower Bay. A 46-year-old crew member aboard the 'Nord Inspiration,' which was anchored in the harbor, required urgent medical assistance. Just before noon, the Coast Guard Sector New York received an emergency report, prompting the consultation of a flight surgeon who confirmed the need for immediate evacuation. A team from Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook, New Jersey, launched a 47-foot motor lifeboat to navigate challenging conditions, including five to six-foot waves and limited visibility due to heavy fog. By 3:25 p.m., the crew successfully reached the vessel and transported the injured man back to Station Sandy Hook. Upon arrival, he was promptly handed over to emergency medical services waiting ashore. The crew’s efforts ensured that the man was later taken to Monmouth Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition.
