Grounding Incident Involves Tugs at Paraná de las Palmas River
On November 15, the bulk carrier 'Thomas C' found itself aground at coordinates 33°53'17''S, 58°40'8''W. This incident took place at the 161-kilometer mark along the Paraná de las Palmas River while the vessel was on its way to its unloading destination at the New Port berth in San Nicolas. The grounding occurred on November 8 at 5:30 p.m. Notably, the vessel did not cause any disruption to other marine traffic in the vicinity. To aid in the refloating efforts, four tugs—the 'Brutus' (MMSI: 701006670), 'Emma B' (IMO: 9760938), 'Querandi' (IMO: 9721255), and 'Ranquel' (IMO: 9688702)—were deployed to the scene. By November 18 at 9:25 p.m., the 'Thomas C' was successfully refloated. Following this, a routine inspection was conducted at the 208-kilometer mark of the Paraná Guazu River. Finally, on November 20 at 12:45 p.m., the vessel successfully berthed in San Nicolas de Los Arroyos.

On the evening of November 9, 2019, at approximately 8:20 PM, the cargo ship 'Thomas C' encountered difficulties while navigating the Paraná River. The vessel, en route from Ponta Ubu to San Nicolas, ran aground at the 160-kilometre mark, specifically at position 33° 53.28' N and 058° 40.13' W. In response to the situation, the tugboat 'Coopor Estibador I' (IMO: 9769362) was dispatched to assist in the recovery efforts for the stranded vessel.
