Working Conditions Aboard the Avior

On May 17, 2012, at 11:30 a.m., a swift response from KNRM lifeboat 'Koopmansdank' stationed at Neeltje Jans was initiated for a medical evacuation involving the tanker 'Ek Sky,' which was anchored approximately 15 miles northwest of Neeltje Jans in the Schouwenbank area. The emergency arose when the tanker’s steward experienced severe chest pain and difficulty breathing. After assessing the situation, the Coastguard Centre in Den Helder, in collaboration with a doctor from the Radio Medical Service of KNRM, authorized the medical evacuation. The steward was successfully transferred to 'Koopmansdank' and subsequently delivered to a waiting ambulance at the Neeltje Jans station for further transportation to a hospital.
