On April 8, 2023, the bulk carrier BOGDAN experienced a distressing incident as a crew member went overboard while navigating the Sea of Crete. The vessel was on its journey from Israel to Bulgaria when the seaman failed to report for his scheduled watch. Following an exhaustive onboard search that yielded no results, the ship's Master promptly alerted Greek maritime authorities and decided to turn the vessel around in hopes of locating the missing crew member.
