The Bai-Chi: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In the early hours of July 23, 2015, the cargo vessel "Jiang Xia Xiang" met a catastrophic fate when it collided with the tanker "Bai Chi" in the Wusong area of the Yangtze River at approximately 1 a.m. At the time of the incident, the Jiang Xia Xiang was loaded with 7,000 tons of stone, while the Bai Chi was transporting 30,000 tons of crude oil. Following the collision, the Jiang Xia Xiang sustained significant damage, including a severe breach on its port side, leading to rapid water ingress. The cargo ship was subsequently escorted to an anchorage, but tragically capsized, leaving its starboard side above water. Fortunately, all 16 crew members aboard the Jiang Xia Xiang were successfully rescued without injury. However, the incident resulted in a small oil spill, raising environmental concerns in the area.
