On April 19, 2018, at 6:30 a.m., the tanker Bakar encountered a floating ice floe while navigating the Strait of La Perouse. At the time of the incident, the vessel was in ballast and sustained significant damage to its hull, particularly around the bulbous bow, leading to water ingress in the forepeak section. In response to the situation, the crew adjusted the vessel's trim to the stern to mitigate the water ingress, successfully preventing further complications. Following the incident, the Bakar continued its journey from Vladivostok to Nakhodka, where it safely docked at the Nakhodka Shipyard on April 21 at 2:15 p.m. After necessary repairs, the tanker departed the port on June 16 at 5:15 p.m., setting course back to Vladivostok, where it arrived later that evening at 11 p.m. Currently, the Bakar is anchored off the port at the coordinates 43° 5.52' N, 131° 50.88' E.
