On June 29, 2018, at 5:40 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Jevenau' encountered a critical issue, leaving it disabled and adrift in the English Channel, a few miles northeast of Le Havre, France. By 7 a.m. the next morning, June 30, the ship continued to drift southward, remaining parallel to its intended route while on a journey from A Coruña, Spain, which it departed on June 26, to its destination at Wandelaar/Puurs, with an estimated time of arrival set for June 30 at 8 a.m. In response to the emergency, the Search and Rescue tug 'Abeile Languedoc' (IMO: 7710525) was dispatched from Boulogne-sur-Mer at 3 a.m. to provide assistance.
