This vessel marks the company's first multi-purpose vessel (MPV) since it joined the AP Moller-Maersk Group over 11 years ago. The 'Safmarine Sumba' is not just a solitary entry; it is the first of six new multi-purpose vessels set to join the Safmarine lineup between 2011 and 2013. Safmarine secured the 'Safmarine Sumba' along with her sister vessel while both were still under construction at the Jiangsu Sugang Shipbuilding yard in China.
