The Benjaco: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On the morning of February 8, 2018, the trawler 'Meløyfjord' found itself grounded in the Landegode Fjord, close to Bodø, Norway. Emergency services were promptly notified at 8:06 a.m. as the vessel was reported listing dangerously to its port side, with its crew still onboard. The anti-pollution vessel 'Skovvær' attempted to refloat the stranded trawler but was unsuccessful. By 10:20 a.m., three crew members were safely evacuated by the lifeboat 'Klaveness Marine' from Bodø. Furthermore, support was provided by the Norwegian Navy vessels 'OV Skomvær' and 'Thor Heyerdahl', who were gearing up for a towing operation. Unfortunately, water levels in the area were anticipated to drop until 12:30 p.m., complicating the situation. Fortunately, inspections revealed no leaks or damage to the hull. By 5:15 p.m., the 'Meløyfjord' was successfully refloated and started its journey back to port being towed by NSSR lifeboats 'Det Norske Veritas' (MMSI: 259193000) and 'Klaveness Marine' (MMSI: 257928800).
