A new charter has been successfully arranged for the transport of 160,000 tons of coal from Puerto Bolivar to Rotterdam. The deal secures a freight rate of $8.10 per ton, free in/out (fio). This charter involves a loading capacity of 50,000 tons shinc and a discharge capacity of 25,000 tons shinc, with operations expected to take place between October 12 and October 17. The charter is being managed by EdF, following a reallocation from RWE.

Classic Maritime has successfully finalized a charter agreement for its vessels, marking an important milestone in its operational strategy. The deal involves a delivery to the Hamburg spot and encompasses two or three laden legs. The charter will span a minimum of 180 days, with redelivery set for the Atlantic region. The financial terms of the charter are also noteworthy, with daily earnings estimated at approximately $19,000. This charter is a relet from RWE, further enhancing Classic Maritime's position in the maritime industry.

On July 5, 2016, authorities made a significant drug bust at the port of Carboneras, uncovering 43 kilos of cocaine concealed on the merchant vessel 'Besiktas Kazakhstan'. This operation was the culmination of an international collaboration that tipped off authorities to potential drug trafficking on a coal-laden ship. The 'Besiktas Kazakhstan' had initially loaded its cargo at Puerto Bolivar on May 28 and underwent a thorough inspection by Colombian authorities prior to its departure, which did not reveal any illicit substances. After departing for Carboneras, the vessel's cargo discharging operations began on July 5. Spanish authorities intervened on July 6 to perform a drug search and discovered two packages containing a total of 50 kilos of cocaine, skillfully hidden within the rudder trunk. It was revealed that authorities had been monitoring the vessel since it left Colombian waters, and the packages had been strategically placed by divers during the loading process. Representatives from the shipping company, as well as P&I associates and legal counsel, were swiftly engaged in the matter. Following an extensive search and crew interrogation, Spanish authorities found no evidence linking the crew to the narcotics, leading to the case being closed for all parties involved. After successfully completing her cargo discharge, the 'Besiktas Kazakhstan' departed from the port of Carboneras on July 12.
