On the morning of August 5, 2022, authorities seized a staggering 200 kilos of cocaine aboard the cargo vessel Nord Mamore, which was stopping in Tenerife for refueling. This operation was executed by the Civil Guard's specialized underwater activities team (GEAS), who discovered a total of eight packages externally affixed to the ship's hull. Notably, the illegal drugs were cleverly concealed inside one of the vessel's cooling nozzles. At the time of the incident, the Nord Mamore was on its way from Paranagua to Lisbon, transporting a shipment of corn. The confiscation followed a thorough inspection conducted by the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Agency in Santa Cruz and the Civil Guard, part of a routine oversight by the Fiscal Protection and Borders Section at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife port, in collaboration with the Combined Customs Surveillance Unit.
