Working Conditions Aboard the Blue-Star-Naxos

On May 4th, an unexpected situation arose for the ferry 'Blue Star Naxos' while departing from the bustling port of Piraeus. The unfortunate incident occurred as the ship encountered rough seas, causing it to tilt forward. The sudden shift resulted in the passenger striking her left shoulder against the armchair she was occupying, leading to her injury. Emergency services swiftly responded, and the injured woman was transported by ambulance to Piraeus General Hospital for medical attention. In light of the incident, the 1st Tzelepi Port Department of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus has initiated a preliminary investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the event.

On July 20, 2024, a noteworthy incident unfolded at the Port Authority of Amorgos when the ferry 'Blue Star Naxos' encountered a ramp malfunction. While executing a mooring maneuver, the vessel was unable to deploy its main ramp, affecting its ability to discharge 403 passengers and a total of 54 vehicles, including two trucks, one bus, and 24 motorcycles. The 'Blue Star Naxos' was on a scheduled journey traveling from Astypalaia to various destinations including Aegiali, Donoussa, Naxos, Paros, and Piraeus. Thankfully, the vessel made a safe arrival at Paros port, allowing all passengers to disembark without issue.
