Keppel Shipyard, located in Singapore, has officially been awarded a significant contract by Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. for the transformation of its semi-submersible heavy lift vessel, known as Finesse, into a highly capable crane vessel. This conversion will see Finesse upgraded with an impressive 3,000 tonne crane, advanced dynamic positioning (DP2) systems, and accommodations for up to 150 crew members, as confirmed by Keppel Shipyard. Currently docked at Keppel Shipyard, Finesse is set to enhance its capabilities to transport and install foundations for offshore wind turbines once the conversion is finalized in the third quarter of 2017. The vessel's conversion was initially mentioned by Boskalis in October 2016, coinciding with its acquisition of a contract from DONG Energy for the transport and installation of foundations for the Hornsea Project One. The completion of this conversion will enable Finesse to play a pivotal role in the developmental phase of this major offshore wind project.
