On the morning of May 8, 2026, the ferry 'Botnia Seaways' experienced a technical malfunction, leading to an allision with a quay at the Port of Rønne. Fortunately, the damage to the quay was minimal. The vessel, which had been in port to deliver equipment for the military exercise Baltic Shield, was scheduled to depart the same day; however, it was prohibited from sailing following the incident. A thorough inspection of the ferry was conducted, and DFDS has since completed necessary repairs. After a brief delay, 'Botnia Seaways' successfully resumed its journey on May 14, heading towards Swinoujscie. Repair work on the quay's damage remains pending.
