Working Conditions Aboard the Bright-Sky

On March 3, 2023, a critical medical situation unfolded aboard the MV 'Bright Sky', which was navigating from Leixoes to Walvis Bay. The vessel, situated approximately 60 nautical miles northeast of Las Palmas, issued a request for a medical evacuation due to concerns over a crew member's health, suspected to be suffering from a stroke. Responding swiftly, the CCS Las Palmas of Salvamento Marítimo dispatched the SAR helicopter Helimer 205 to the scene. The helicopter conducted a successful operation, hoisting the affected seafarer from the ship and subsequently transporting him to the Hospital Doctor Negrín for urgent medical attention.

This week, MACS Maritime Carrier Shipping, a prominent player in the multipurpose and breakbulk shipping sector based in Hamburg, has successfully taken delivery of the 37,000 dwt multipurpose ship known as BRIGHT SKY. Renowned for its specialized liner services connecting Northern Europe with South Africa (IMO #898), MACS is now set to incorporate this new vessel into its operations. The BRIGHT SKY is currently on an unscheduled journey as it prepares to join the MACS fleet, with intentions to commence its official liner service in early October. This addition marks a significant step forward for MACS in enhancing its service capacity and continuing to meet the demands of its global clientele.
