Cala-Portese Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On July 31, 2019, at 12:45 PM, the cargo ship 'Cala Portese' experienced a collision with a 498 GT coastal vessel while navigating near Kobe. Fortunately, the incident resulted in no reported damages. At the time of the collision, the 'Cala Portese' was on its journey from Kobe to Davao, with an estimated time of arrival slated for August 5.

On December 5, 2012, the cargo ship "Cala Portese" came to the aid of three Filipino fishermen stranded at sea after their fishing vessel, the "RGL Mark Anthony-35," capsized approximately 70 nautical miles east of Bitaogan in Surigao del Sur. The fishermen, hailing from General Santos City, found themselves in dire circumstances when their boat overturned on December 3. Fortunately, the vigilant crew of the "Cala Portese" spotted the fishermen floating in the water and swiftly rescued them. Upon being brought aboard, the trio received immediate medical care for hypothermia along with some minor cuts and bruises. Thankfully, all three were reported to be in stable condition post-rescue. The Philippine Coast Guard coordinated with the maritime crew to facilitate the handover of the fishermen to local authorities for further assistance. Simultaneously, the Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances surrounding the capsizing of the "RGL Mark Anthony-35," particularly whether rough seas during Typhoon Pablo contributed to the incident and the fate of the vessel's remaining crew members.
