Ghana Navy Rescues Seven Stowaways from Tanker 'Cap Felix'
In a recent maritime incident, the Ghana Navy sprang into action to assist the tanker 'Cap Felix', which was reported to be approximately 200 nautical miles off the African coast. The call for help was initiated through the Maritime Operations Center located in Côte d'Ivoire. Upon their arrival, authorities discovered seven stowaways concealed within the steering gear room situated above the rudder of the vessel. The removal of these individuals from the tanker has sparked an investigation aimed at uncovering their nationalities and the means by which they managed to embark on the ship. The tanker, which had departed from Abidjan and was heading towards the Bonga Offshore Terminal with an ETA of May 17, had only recently become aware of the presence of the stowaways. On May 13, the naval ship 'Achimota' was dispatched to rendezvous with 'Cap Felix'. A small launch was utilized to approach the tanker, successfully extracting the seven men from onboard. Authorities are now examining the possibility that these stowaways boarded the tanker while it was anchored near the port of Abidjan. There is speculation that the stowaways could potentially be Ghanaians residing in Côte d'Ivoire.
