On August 27, 2019, the 'Cassiopeia Ocean', a bulk carrier laden with 46,437 tonnes of grain, encountered distress at 1 a.m. as it departed from the port of Rosario, Argentina. The vessel became aground in the Paraná River at position 33° 2.69' S 060° 34.33' W, precisely at km mark 407.3 along the right bank, significantly impeding navigation in both upstream and downstream directions. Initial attempts for re-floating the vessel using its own resources proved unsuccessful.
