Penta-Ocean Construction, a leading Japanese dredging and construction firm, has officially introduced its latest addition to the fleet, the Cassiopeia V, marking a significant step in their Southeast Asia operations. The state-of-the-art suction dredger was delivered from ASL Marine shipyard located in Singapore. Suction dredgers play a crucial role in dredging and reclamation tasks by using cutters affixed at the rear to excavate the seabed. The dredging pump efficiently vacuums up a mixture of soil and seawater, transporting it through pipelines to designated discharge points. In a statement reflecting on their growth strategy, the company expressed, "To meet the rising demands for port construction in Southeast Asia, we commenced the building of Cassiopeia V in September 2011 at Singapore’s ASL Marine shipyard." With impressive dimensions of 123 meters in length and 23 meters in breadth, the new dredger is equipped with a powerful dredge pump generating 8,000 kilowatts— surpassing the capacity of comparable vessels in Japan by 1.4 times. This investment will undoubtedly bolster Penta-Ocean's capabilities and enhance its impact on regional infrastructure development.
