On July 21, 2020, an alarming hijacking incident unfolded involving the cargo vessel 'Jeager' in the Red Sea, when an armed guard, frustrated by several months of unpaid wages, seized control of the ship he was tasked to protect. After a tense three-day standoff, professional negotiators succeeded in convincing the guard to surrender peacefully. Initially, three armed guards boarded the vessel, with two complying with standard procedure by surrendering their firearms to the captain. However, the third guard refused to relinquish his weapon and instead assumed control of the ship, altering its intended course. Although he fired his weapon at least once during the incident, he did not directly threaten any crew members.
