The LNG tanker Cesi Gladstone has officially set sail once more after undergoing repairs following a significant main engine failure. The incident occurred on June 22, 2018, during the vessel's journey from Australia to China. After experiencing engine trouble, the Cesi Gladstone was towed to the offshore port of Rabaul (OPL) for necessary repairs. The tanker departed Rabaul on July 5 at 11:15 p.m., now heading towards Beihai. This marks a successful turnaround for the crew and the vessel, as it aims to continue its path in the busy maritime trade routes.

The LNG tanker 'Cesi Gladstone' encountered severe challenges while navigating the Solomon Sea after departing from Gladstone on June 18, 2018, bound for Beihai with an estimated arrival on July 3. On June 21, the vessel was rendered disabled and was subsequently classified as Not Under Command (NUC). Fortunately, assistance was provided by the tug 'Pacific Salvor' (IMO: 8209339) on June 24. The towage commenced off the southern coast of New Britain, with 'Pacific Salvor' guiding 'Cesi Gladstone' at a steady speed of 2.5 knots towards Rabaul. By June 27, 'Cesi Gladstone' successfully reached the port of Rabaul, where it is scheduled to undergo necessary repairs.

On November 1, 2016, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. proudly announced the successful delivery of the LNG carrier CESI Gladstone. This vessel was commissioned by a strategic partnership between China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited and the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, known as SINOPEC. The CESI Gladstone was officially handed over at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. on October 31, marking a notable milestone in the development of the LNG sector.
