The Ceylon-Princess: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

Ceylon Shipping Corporation (CSC) proudly announced the arrival of its latest bulk carrier, CEYLON PRINCESS, which docked at the Colombo port recently. This impressive vessel, with a deadweight tonnage of 63,000 and a length of 200 meters, was constructed at the Avica International shipyard located in Weihei, China. CEYLON PRINCESS mirrors its sibling, the CEYLON BREEZE, which was delivered earlier this year in March. The acquisition of these bulk carriers is strategically aimed at ensuring efficient coal transportation to the Puttalam Lakvijaya Power Station, reinforcing CSC's commitment to enhancing energy supply in the region.

On September 12, 2016, the bulk carrier Ceylon Princess played a critical role in a rescue operation for a distressed yacht near the coast of Mauritius. The vessel was on its way to Richards Bay, South Africa, to pick up a coal shipment intended for the Norochcholai coal power facility in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka, having departed from Singapore on September 2. As the Ceylon Princess navigated northeast of Mauritius, it picked up a Mayday call from the yacht Rebecca, which was in communication with the Mauritius Coastguard. Following the coastguard's request, the bulk carrier altered its course to assist the stranded yacht. Upon arrival, the crew of the Ceylon Princess discovered that the yacht's power and emergency systems had malfunctioned, but fortunately, the two crew members aboard were unharmed. The Ceylon Princess remained on standby until the Coastguard arrived on the scene, allowing for a safe resolution before continuing its journey.

The Ceylon Shipping Corporation marked a significant milestone with the delivery of its second bulk carrier, Mv. Ceylon Princess, on June 23. The event took place at the AVIC International shipyard in Wehai, China, attended by notable figures, including Chairman Shashi Dhanatunge and Nishantha Muthuhettigama, the Deputy Minister of Ports and Shipping. This impressive vessel was constructed in parallel to its twin, Mv. Ceylon Breeze, which was launched earlier this year on January 20. The Mv. Ceylon Princess boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 199.813 meters in length and 32.251 meters in width, with a cargo capacity of 63,212 Metric Tons, as highlighted in the company's official press release.
