A distressing maritime incident occurred on June 12, 2023, when the landing craft 'Cipta Harapan IX' capsized in the waters off Karimunjawa, located in Jepara, Central Java. The attentive crew of 'Sinar Sejati 2' managed to rescue five individuals from the distressed landing craft, which was found floating upside down. Additionally, the KM 'Kargo SK 3' played a crucial role in the rescue effort by locating and retrieving one more crew member from the site. The survivors were subsequently taken to Probolinggo for medical assistance and support. Information reached the Karimunjawa Police from fishermen on Parang Island, who reported seeing the capsized vessel at the coordinates 109'47.235'E 5'39.430'S, approximately 30 nautical miles west of Pulau Kembar, located in Parang Village, Karimunjawa District, in Jepara Regency. As the search continues for the remaining missing crew members, local authorities are urging shipping traffic to remain vigilant in the area.
