Cranes Collide at Port Bakar During Cargo Operations
On March 9, 2021, at approximately 4:20 PM, the bulk carrier 'CL Teresa' was actively discharging a load of iron ore at the bustling Port of Bakar, located near Rijeka. During this operation, the crew undertook maintenance on crane No. 1, performing an oil change. Unfortunately, while the crew worked, the crane unexpectedly began to rotate, coming dangerously close to a nearby shore-based crane. This resulted in a collision between the two cranes. Fortunately, the damage inflicted upon the 'CL Teresa' crane was minor; however, the shore crane suffered more significant damage. Such incidents highlight the importance of strict adherence to safety procedures during cargo operations.
