On May 27, 2020, the bulk carrier 'Cofco1 I' ran aground at river km 289 of the Paraná River, leading to significant navigation disruptions in the primary channel. In response to the incident, tugs ‘Brutus’, ‘Albacora’, and 'Coopor Estibador' arrived on the scene the following day, May 28, to assist in the refloating efforts; however, initial attempts were unsuccessful. To manage the situation, the Coast Guard permitted vessels to navigate through the affected area under specific conditions—only those traveling upstream with a draft not exceeding 7.50 meters, and only during daylight hours. The vessel was located at coordinates 33°37′36″S, 059°42′40″W. Fortunately, on May 28 at 5:10 p.m., the combined efforts of the tugs ‘Brutus’, ‘Albacora’, 'Coopor Estibador I', and 'Coopor Estibador II' successfully refloated the 'Cofco1 I'. By 10:15 p.m. on the same day, the Coast Guard lifted the restrictions, allowing both upstream and downstream navigation in the vicinity, with a maximum permitted draft of 9.71 meters FW.
