On the evening of February 18, 2026, the cruise liner 'Costa Favolosa' encountered severe weather while navigating the waters near southern Brazil. An extratropical cyclone wreaked havoc, causing the vessel to sway dangerously as it faced turbulent seas. Fortunately, after the storm subsided, the 'Costa Favolosa' resumed its journey at regular speed without any alterations to its itinerary. The storm's epicenter was located in Juiz de Fora, situated in southeastern Brazil, and it wreaked havoc across much of southern Brazil and the Río de la Plata region, with wind gusts surpassing 60 miles per hour.

During its recent Northern Europe cruise, the Costa Favolosa, operated by Costa Cruises, experienced an unfortunate outbreak of gastrointestinal illness among several passengers. The voyage commenced in Hamburg on May 3, 2025, and included ports of call at Le Havre, South Queensferry, and Newhaven, near Edinburgh. On May 18, after receiving reports of symptoms including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, the cruise line swiftly implemented a thorough sanitation initiative at the Scottish port. In an official communication, Costa Cruises assured guests that heightened cleaning measures were being enforced and that safety was their top priority. Passengers were advised to either remain in their cabins or temporarily disembark to facilitate the hygiene procedures. Captain Valentino Savarese urged everyone to prioritize hand hygiene and limit physical contact on board, including reducing restroom usage to individual cabins. Although the exact tally of affected passengers has yet to be disclosed, Costa Cruises continues to monitor the situation closely. Despite these developments, the cruise is set to proceed as scheduled, lasting a total of 19 days from its start in Marseille on May 3 to its conclusion in Hamburg on May 22.

On November 8, a medical emergency aboard the Costa Favolosa required immediate action, prompting a rescue operation near Tarragona. The Spanish maritime rescue service, Salvamento Marítimo, dispatched the vessel Salvamar Fomalhaut to facilitate the evacuation. The patient, accompanied by a member of the ship's medical staff, was successfully transferred to Tarragona for further medical attention.

On October 24, a passenger aboard the cruise ship 'Costa Favolosa' required urgent medical assistance during its voyage from Portugal to Cartagena, situated approximately 2.8 nautical miles off the coast of Cadiz. In response, the Cádiz Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (CCS Cadiz) promptly dispatched the rescue boat 'Salvamar Suhail' to the scene. The crew successfully onboarded the patient and facilitated his transfer to Puerto América, where an ambulance was ready to transport him to a local hospital for further medical care.
