In the early hours of April 16, 2018, a significant maritime incident occurred off the coast of Singapore when the LPG tanker 'Crystal Sunrise' collided with the fuel oil carrier 'Astro Saturn' at approximately 2:30 a.m. The 'Crystal Sunrise', under charter by Japanese liquefied petroleum gas company Gyxis, was engaged in routine operations when the accident took place near a designated pilot station, about one mile south of Tuas Extension. The 'Crystal Sunrise' has a clean record with no history of inspection deficiencies, whereas the 'Astro Saturn' faced some documentation-related deficiencies during its last inspection at Vostochny.
