The 'Viet Thuan 56-05', which had 22 crew members aboard, was making its way from Singapore to Panjang Harbor, Lampung, when it struck the 'CSSC Yuan Jing', carrying 19 individuals and en route from China to Geraldton, Australia while ballasting. Following the incident, a team from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (KPLP) promptly arrived on the scene to conduct thorough inspections of both vessels, assessing the crews, ship documents, safety protocols, and any potential environmental pollution. KPLP personnel worked alongside KSOP Bakauheni to gather initial evidence as part of the formal investigation process. Reports indicate that the 'Viet Thuan 56-05' incurred damage to its port side foreship, while the 'CSSC Yuan Jing' sustained damage to its rear hull. Both ships were subsequently anchored in the North Bakauheni area to await further investigations.
