In a significant boost to its heavy lift fleet, COSCO Shipping welcomed the MV DA DE, a cutting-edge 28,000 DWT vessel, delivered last weekend (August 9/10) by Shanghai Shipyard. This addition complements COSCO's existing lineup of five heavy lift vessels. Notably, the MV DA DE shares its lineage with the recently delivered sister vessel, MV DA XIN, both equipped with dual 350-ton cranes, marking them as the largest cranes within COSCO’s fleet. In an effort to amplify its heavy lift capacity, COSCO announced plans earlier this summer for a new order at Guangzhou Shipyard for an impressive 90,000-ton DWT, DP-2 semi-submersible heavy lift vessel. This upcoming ship will span 255 meters in overall length and feature the ability to submerse its main deck by 16 meters, facilitating the transportation of exceptionally heavy and oversized cargoes.
