Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers AS, a company in which NYK holds a 50 percent stake, has finalized a deal with J. Lauritzen A/S to acquire three of its shuttle tankers, according to a recent press announcement. The acquired shuttle tanker fleet includes: 1. Dan Eagle (built in 1999; DWT: 45,000 tonnes) 2. Dan Cisne (built in 2011; DWT: 59,000 tonnes) 3. Dan Sabia (built in 2012; DWT 59,000 tonnes) Following the delivery of Dan Eagle to NYK, the vessel has been earmarked for a five-year time-charter with Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. Meanwhile, Dan Cisne and Dan Sabia, which have been engaged in a long-term 12-year time-charter with Petrobras Transporte S.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of Petrobras SA since their deliveries in 2011 and 2012, will continue their service with the Brazilian oil giant. This strategic acquisition will enhance the NYK Group’s shuttle tanker fleet to a total of 28 vessels, further solidifying the group’s offshore operations and its commitment to crude oil transportation in the North Sea and Brazilian waters.
