Royal Danish Vessel 'Dannebrog' Rescues Crew of Distressed Cutter in Kattegat
On July 26, 2021, at approximately 6 a.m., the royal yacht 'Dannebrog' participated in a dramatic search and rescue operation in the Kattegat. Responding swiftly to a distress call, the 'Dannebrog' was alerted to a cutter in peril, carrying two crew members, which was on the verge of sinking southeast of Hjelm. With its crew and helicopter units quickly deployed, the royal ship diverted to the emergency scene. Remarkably, just three hours later, rescuers located the cutter still afloat to the northeast of Hesselø. They promptly boarded the vessel to provide assistance to the two sailors in distress. Earlier, on July 24, the Danish Queen had boarded the 'Dannebrog' in Copenhagen, and the ship began its journey towards Aalborg the following day.
Dannebrog Faces Departure Challenges in Helsingør
On March 3, 2017, at 4:15 PM, the iconic royal yacht Dannebrog encountered difficulties while departing from the quay in Helsingør. The vessel was unexpectedly pushed against the dock by strong winds, rendering it unable to sail away under its own power. In response to the situation, the Danish Society for Rescue of the Sea (DSRS) was called upon to assist. A lifeboat was deployed to tow the Dannebrog from the dock. Approximately one hour later, the lifeboat successfully returned to its station, having ensured the safe departure of the royal yacht. Fishing Boat Accidental Collision with Royal Yacht Dannebrog
On July 21, 2013, an unexpected incident occurred in the port of Rudkøbing when a fishing vessel collided with the royal yacht Dannebrog. As the cutter navigated out of the harbor, it drew too near to the anchored yacht, resulting in the unfortunate breakage of the royal flagpole. Following the incident, Steen Picture Jensen, the deputy commander of the Dannebrog, initiated an investigation to assess the circumstances surrounding the allision.
