A crew member had suffered a sudden illness, requiring immediate evacuation. Following the alert, the CROSS instructed the vessel to head towards Brest, where a boat evacuation was initially planned. As morning unfolded, a critical assessment at 08:00 a.m. involved a conference call among the maritime medical consultation center in Toulouse, the CROSS, and the crew of Darya Gayatri. Given the patient's precarious condition and inability to utilize the ship’s ladder for a boat transfer, the decision was swiftly made to execute a helicopter evacuation instead. The CROSS Corsen promptly dispatched a Cayman helicopter from the Navy Base in Lanvéoc-Poulmic, which successfully hoisted the ailing sailor at 09:15 a.m. In a remarkable display of coordination and efficiency, the sailor was subsequently airlifted to the Cavale Blanche hospital in Brest, arriving at 9:45 a.m., where he received the necessary medical care.
