Royal IHC Unveils DASA I: Argentina's First New-Built Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger in Decades
In a significant advancement for the Argentinian marine industry, Royal IHC has officially handed over the trailing suction hopper dredger, DASA I, to Dragados Argentinos DASA S.A., based in Buenos Aires. This milestone follows the contractual agreement established in late 2016 for the construction of this notably standardized TSHD from the renowned Easydredge 2700 series. Impressively, the full cycle from contract signing to delivery was completed in just a few months, showcasing IHC's efficiency in maritime engineering. Hans Hesen, IHC's Area Sales Director, expressed pride in supporting DASA's debut in the hopper dredging sector, emphasizing the importance of the DASA I as the first new-built TSHD to grace the waters of Argentina in many years. This innovative vessel boasts a comprehensive "world dredging package," featuring bottom doors, a bow coupling, and a dredging depth capability of 25 meters, enabling it to perform a diverse array of tasks including port and channel maintenance as well as land reclamation.
