On September 16, 2025, at approximately 1 a.m. UTC, the cargo vessel 'Day Blue' experienced a mechanical failure while navigating from Kocaeli to Savona. The incident occurred near Karanfil Burnu during its transit of the Çanakkale Strait. With the assistance of a strait pilot, the disabled vessel was successfully secured and towed by the tug 'Türkeli' (IMO: 9816256). Subsequently, the ship was brought to the Karanlık Liman anchorage, where it was moored safely at 3:15 a.m. in position 40° 02' N 026° 19' E. The emergency response was coordinated by the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services Center.
