Deepsea Stavanger Rig Temporarily Idled Amidst Covid-19 Challenges
On May 19, 2020, Odfjell Drilling announced in collaboration with Total South Africa that the 'Deepsea Stavanger' drilling rig will remain idle in Norway for a designated time prior to its scheduled mobilization. This decision stems from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which has prompted adjustments in operations. During this idle period, Odfjell Drilling will receive compensation from Total, ensuring both parties remain committed to the forthcoming drilling program in South Africa. The rig has been stationed at Hanoytangen since May 17 and will mobilize to South Africa to initiate its charter once the idle phase concludes.
Odfjell Drilling Collaborates with Semco Maritime for Rig Enhancement Before Total Contract
Odfjell Drilling has joined forces with Semco Maritime to facilitate essential preparations and modifications on the semi-submersible rig Deepsea Stavanger. This step comes ahead of a significant nine-month drilling operation for total in South Africa. The rig is scheduled for a critical high docking at Semco Maritime’s facility located in Hanøytangen during the first quarter of 2020. The project will encompass extensive upgrades to the rig's hull and mooring system, as well as the installation of specialized equipment tailored for the upcoming Total contract off the coast of South Africa. This strategic enhancement aims to ensure the rig is fully equipped and operational for the demanding tasks ahead.
Odfjell Drilling Secures New Contract with Aker BP for Deepsea Stavanger
Odfjell Drilling has officially entered into a significant contract with Aker BP ASA concerning the utilization of its 6th generation semi-submersible rig, Deepsea Stavanger. This collaboration is set for approximately 9 months, starting in February 2018 and expected to conclude around October 2018. The focus of this contract will revolve around exploration and development drilling operations across various sites in the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea. This agreement will be initiated following the anticipated completion of the Wintershall Maria contract and will continue until the Deepsea Stavanger is scheduled to mobilize to South Africa to execute one well for Total. With an estimated contract value reaching up to USD 68 million, this partnership reinforces Odfjell Drilling's commitment to advancing exploration efforts in challenging environments.
