Engine Failure Strikes Delamar Near Kiel Canal Locks
On November 22, 2016, at approximately 9:10 p.m., the container ship 'Delamar', navigating from Plymouth to Södertalje, experienced an unexpected engine failure as it approached the locks of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel. The emergency anchoring procedure was initiated, halting the vessel at the entrance of the southern lock chamber. Shortly thereafter, at 9:30 p.m., the situation was stabilized with the assistance of the tugs 'Wal' and 'Parat', which successfully towed the ship to safety, docking it at the inner port of Brunsbüttel on the southern shore. Following necessary repairs, the 'Delamar' got back underway on November 23 at 5:30 p.m., passing through the Kiel locks around midnight. On November 17, 2014, at approximately 5:15 PM, the vessel 'Delamar' experienced an allision with a piling at the Ziegelgraben Bridge within the Stralsund port area. The ship was making its approach to port after departing from Vierow when the incident occurred.
