In an exciting development for the maritime industry, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a proud member of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) family based in Yokohama, has officially christened the Diamond Gas Rose. This next-generation LNG (liquefied natural gas) carrier is being built for a joint venture between Mitsubishi Corporation and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line). The Diamond Gas Rose is the second vessel of the innovative 'Sayaringo STaGE' type, showcasing remarkable advancements in LNG carrying capabilities and fuel efficiency. Thanks to its cutting-edge hull design and hybrid propulsion system, this new carrier is set to revolutionize LNG transport. Anticipated to be completed in August, the Diamond Gas Rose will begin its operational journey alongside its sister vessel, the Diamond Gas Orchid. The Orchid, which was completed in late June, will share the responsibility of transporting LNG for the Cameron LNG Project located in Louisiana, where Mitsubishi Corporation and NYK Line are engaged in a collaborative partnership. With an impressive overall length of 293.5 meters, a width of 48.94 meters, a depth of 27.0 meters, and a draft of 11.05 meters, the Diamond Gas Rose boasts a deadweight capacity of around 73,800 tons and a total tank capacity of 165,000 cubic meters. The vessel's launch took place on July 12, 2017, with construction spearheaded by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Structure Co., Ltd., located in Nagasaki. This milestone marks a significant leap forward in the quest for more efficient and sustainable shipping solutions.
