On May 7, 2025, at approximately noon, a member of the Port Authority of Patmos received an urgent report regarding a man who had fallen from the 'Dodekkanisos Express' ferry into the waters at the Skala port. The individual, a 34-year-old Greek citizen, had boarded the passenger catamaran to assist with the luggage of his relatives. Unfortunately, he soon discovered that the vessel was departing and fell into the sea while trying to swim back to shore. In a prompt response, a patrol boat was dispatched to provide assistance, while the ferry crew acted quickly by tossing a life vest into the water. Fortunately, the man was able to reach the shore safely and without injury. After the incident, the 'Dodekkanisos Express' resumed its scheduled journey. The Patmos Port Authority has initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident to ascertain the details surrounding the fall.

On the morning of May 27, 2022, the Captain of the passenger ferry 'Dodekanisos Express', which was traveling from Rhodes to the islands of Symi, Kos, Kalymnos, Lipsi, and Patmos, reported engine problems to the Rhodes Port Authority. The vessel experienced a malfunction with its starboard side main engine, prompting an immediate return to Rhodes Port. With 137 passengers aboard, the ferry made an unassisted return, ensuring the safety of all those on board. Upon arrival, passengers disembarked without incident, and the 'Dodekanisos Express' was temporarily barred from setting sail again until the mechanical issues were fully resolved and a certificate of seaworthiness was issued by the vessel's monitoring classification society. Once all safety checks were completed, the ferry was cleared and resumed its scheduled route.
