The crew initiated a distress call after noticing suspicious activity from two unidentified vessels nearing their ship, followed by the alarming sight of two to three intruders boarding. Prompt action was taken by the Batam VTS, which immediately alerted the KN 'Tanjung Datu,' a patrol boat in the vicinity. The patrol vessel responded swiftly, reaching the scene by 05:00 WIB. According to reports, the perpetrators boarded the ship from the stern and made off with a total of 44 engine spare parts sourced from the engine room. Regrettably, during the incident, one crew member sustained injuries to his hand due to the altercation with the intruders.
