Working Conditions Aboard the Dry-Transport

Loading activities at Amamapare Port (Portsite) have come to a standstill due to a strike involving thousands of PT Freeport Indonesia employees. As a result, numerous export vessels headed for destinations including Spain, China, and Gresik are unable to depart the port without their shipments. As of yesterday afternoon, the majority of supply vessels remain docked at Portsite, with only the MV Aijkwa and MV Kamora successfully loaded and ready for departure. According to Sirakoit, an employee of Freeport’s contractor, PT Kuala Pelabuhan Indonesia, "The other export vessels are still awaiting their cargo." The MV Sirembo, slated to voyage to Spain, is currently stuck at the port pending the loading of 14,000 tons, while the MV Jin Hui bound for China is waiting for 9,000 tons. Furthermore, the Sider King is anchored several miles from Portsite, unable to unload due to a lack of the necessary permit, which is also delayed as a result of the strike. Sirakoit highlighted, "The employees responsible for arranging the permits are part of the strike."
