Irish Ferries Unveils Dublin Swift on Key Dublin-Holyhead Route
Irish Ferries proudly announces the launch of its latest high-speed vessel, the Dublin Swift, which is now officially servicing the vital Dublin to Holyhead route. This state-of-the-art catamaran has undergone extensive internal upgrades and enhancements. Constructed by the renowned Austal Ships in Australia, the Dublin Swift boasts impressive twin-hulled design capabilities, replacing the long-serving Jonathan Swift, which has been operational since 1999. Standing out as the largest fast ferry in the Irish Sea, the Dublin Swift operates at a remarkable speed of 35 knots, ensuring rapid transit for passengers and cargo alike.
MSC Renews Charter for the WestPac Express Catamaran
The United States Military Sealift Command (MSC) has exercised the first of its three available six-month options to extend the charter of the impressive catamaran vessel, WestPac Express. This charter renewal is part of a larger 24-month contract that was awarded to Austal back in December 2011. The WestPac Express, which measures 101 meters in length and is crafted from aluminum, has been a staunch supporter of the US Marine Corps operations in Okinawa, Japan, since it commenced service in July 2001. Remarkably, the vessel has demonstrated an almost flawless operational availability rate of nearly 100 percent throughout its tenure. The comprehensive Austal-managed charter operation encompasses vital in-service support, meticulous ship management services, and integrated logistics support, ensuring the WestPac Express continues to meet the critical demands of the US military.
