Bluewild, a prominent Ålesund-based shipping company, has taken significant steps following extensive damage to their brand new trawler, the 'Ecofive'. Initially set to take delivery of the 'Ecofive' on February 26, 2025, this long-awaited vessel experienced multiple delays before its much-anticipated handover from the Westcon Yards shipyard in Ølensvåg, Rogaland. However, disaster struck during a trial run in April when serious issues arose with the boarding equipment known as the A-frame. Skipper Fridtjof Køhn reported that during maneuvering, the A-frame sustained severe twisting and deformations to its steel structures. In a detailed note sent to Bluewild on April 22, Køhn described the harrowing situation: "The A-frame was to be driven from the upper to the rear position. [...] moved little or nothing. [...] Both legs of the A-frame are twisted with significant damage. It is not possible to continue fishing. Setting course for Ålesund," he stated, highlighting the urgency and impact of the damage on the vessel’s operational capacity.
