On November 2, 2018, a frightening event unfolded for the crew of the British Century while anchored at the Tabangao 'Alpha' Anchorage Area. During a routine deck watch, crew members spotted an intruder on board, armed with knives and approaching the ship's forward section. The officer on watch (OOW) promptly triggered the general alarm, gathering the crew to respond to the threat. Upon their arrival at the forecastle, they discovered that the security padlock on the bosun's store had been forcefully broken and several items were reported missing. Immediate action was taken to notify Shell Terminal and the ship's local agent using VHF radio communication. However, it was noted that the agent only reported the incident to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after the British Century had departed the anchorage. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported among the crew during this harrowing encounter. The investigation revealed that the stolen items included a ship's bell, eight scupper plugs, three fire hose nozzles, four hydrant caps, and six fire hose couplings, highlighting significant security vulnerabilities in the area.
