Engine Trouble Strikes 'Annamaria D' in the Bosphorus
On March 19, 2022, the cargo vessel 'Annamaria D' encountered a critical engine failure while navigating near Poyrazköy. The ship was on its way from Kocaeli to Constanta when the incident occurred. In response, the Coastal Safety authority swiftly dispatched the tugboats 'Kurtarma 8' and 'Kurtarma 10' to aid in the situation. As a precaution, ship traffic in the Bosphorus was halted in both directions to ensure safety. Ultimately, the vessel was successfully anchored at Büyükdere under the careful management of the Istanbul Ship Traffic Services Center, led by a professional pilot, along with the assistance of the tugs and the lifeboat 'Kıyı Emniyeti 6'. Disabled Freighter 'Annamaria D' Saved and Towed to Bremerhaven
On the night of April 19, 2018, the freighter 'Annamaria D' encountered mechanical issues while navigating the North Sea near Ijmuiden. The vessel had departed from Rotterdam at 6:40 p.m. but found itself in distress during its passage to Bremerhaven. Prompt assistance was provided when the German tug 'Arion' (IMO: 7726902) began towing the disabled cargo ship on the afternoon of April 21. After an urgent tow, the 'Annamaria D' successfully reached Bremerhaven, docking at Columbus Quay at 3 a.m. on April 23. Following repairs, the freighter set sail again on May 19, making a stop at the Yard Quay in Bremen at 7 p.m. The 'Annamaria D' finally departed Bremen on May 22 at 7:20 p.m., setting its course for Izmir, with an expected arrival date of June 5.
